Good read from little old Ben Baby. Now the DMN has decided they might help circulation if...

COLLEGE STATION -- Before he leaped in the back of the end zone, extended his 76.5-inch frame and caught the first touchdown pass of his collegiate career, Kendrick Rogers waited.
In 2016, Rogers didn't play at Texas A&M as he redshirted and learned behind a group of wide receivers that featured four current NFL players. Last season, he played in all 13 games but rarely had the opportunity to catch any passes.
At one point, Rogers wondered if he waited too long. For a moment, he questioned if his chance at A&M would ever come.
Last Saturday, that patience finally paid off. Not only did the third-year sophomore catch his first touchdown pass as an Aggie, but also he captivated everyone inside Kyle Field and a national TV audience. He caught seven catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns in a close loss to No. 2 Clemson, a game that signaled A&M's potential under a new coach. |
Quote: | As soon as he arrived on campus, Rogers had a lot to learn. His mother, Tiffany Harmon, reminded him that he was now among a group of players who were all the best in their hometowns.
Rogers knew he had to add weight on his 6-4 1/2 frame and learn how to actually run routes instead of running down the field and catching passes like he did in Frankston. He redshirted his freshman year and took notes while watching the likes of Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds, two future NFL draft picks.
"Sitting back, it humbles you," Rogers said. "Sitting back just gave me an opportunity to watch, (learn) how to clean up my routes, anything I had a downfall in coming out of high school."
In an era of instant gratification, Rogers is somewhat of a throwback. And if anyone understands how much the need for immediate success can be a hindrance, it's A&M coach Jimbo Fisher. |
Sounds like a good kid with a Great Momma... _________________ We can think all we want, we can suggest all we want, we can surmise all we want, we can prognosticate all we want, but ultimately, those boys have got to suit up and play the game. |

He certainly was impressive Saturday night. Seems he made a couple of terrific catches last year as well.
We trudge on. |

Refreshing to see those kind of comments from a kid with so much talent.
It's just 1 game, but he showed he can be "that" WR that can be covered and it may not matter. If he and the other WRs can build on what they did in the Clemson game, we'll always have a chance to move the ball regardless of the opponent. The OL is holding their own and Mond is playing with poise beyond his years.
BTW hats off to the trainer that does the tape job. When he made the catch and came down with his leg under the defender, about 4 million viewers all grimaced while he not only got up but tried to extend the play. TED-P with Grit, right?

I'm still trying to figure out why they called him down on that play. |

His shoulder & helmet touched the ground. It showed on the replay. _________________ Need real estate in Austin? Email me... dcrow6@austin.rr.com. |

Kendrick is the perfect example of hard work and patience paying paying off. After redshirting and having limited time his second year. He didn’t transfer, he didn’t quit, he just put in the work to get where he is today. Not everyone is a day one starter. Love you brotha😤

So many kids around college football think their careers are over if they aren’t the guy year 1. More people around the country should look up to him and model the work he has put in.
