Bama 2018 might be the best team we’ve ever faced. Our strategy going in will be fascinating. I start on offense first with the hope of a long and time consuming scoring drive. We’ve got to keep Tua on the sidelines. Of note is we’ve hung with Bama fairly well over the last three years - better than anyone but Clemson.

Bama while they are still Bama is no different than any other Bama team. They have played literally no one to start the year.

Are they very good? Of course they are. Are they invinceable. Not at all.

Let's see they played Sisters of the Poor, Louisville, and Ole Miss.

Meanwhile we've played Sisters of the Poor, Clemson, and Sisters of the Poor.

ACC, SEC, FCS > FCS, ACC, Sun Belt...

Bama's WR's and QB are a huge mismatch against our defensive backfield. Elko needs to produce some magic to confuse their QB and get some turnovers and our offense needs to have drives that take big chunks of time off the clock and score TDs. Otherwise we're looking at a 52-14 type game.

Based on the Clemson game I have some confidence in getting some scores and eating up some clock. I also have confidence that Elko can come up with a good scheme. I have little confidence in our DBs having the speed, discipline and coverage skills to execute the scheme well enough to slow Bama down.

Ole Miss is maybe the worst power five defense in the nation. Louisville wouldn't win in the Big XII and I am reasonably sure ULM would at least hang with them.

We on the other hand played the #2 team in the Nation.,

Wanna try again.

Have you watched our DBs? On the long plays they are stride for stride with the wideouts. In the second half of games the same DBs you are talking about shut down some very talented wideouts.

What the friggin hell is with all of the self hate around here.

If our kids and our fans will keep their yaps shut and not talk a bunch of smack about BAMA, we'll be okay.

If you notice that BAMA always has something special for teams that talk smack about beating BAMA.

Vandy talked smack, Louisville talked smack and Ole Miss talked smack.

I think we have a chance against BAMA but a lot has to work for us on both sides of the ball.

Um, no, this Bama team is ALOT different. Defense took a small step back, but the offense has taken a gigantic leap forward.

Through 3 games Tua has ZERO incompletions on 3rd down Shocked

Their collection of WRs, they have never had talent like this outside, and now with an actual QB, in addition to the normal stable of elite RBs.

This Bama team is VERY different. Do we have a chance to be competitive? Sure. But it wouldn't surprise or shock me if lost by the spread.

Unless there is some goofball error, rash of injuries to the QB and all the WRs, or an Act of God, I believe this Bama team will go 12-0 without breaking much of a sweat.

I do believe our DBs are playing much better than they are being given credit for. But we have no depth at LB, RB issues behind TWill and he isn't what we need as an all-purpose starting RB in the SEC, and the OL is still working and has a ways to go. But we can compete, Fisher and Elko will have a good plan, and it can be a close and respectable game. Just don't read too much into it or gete down or worried if we lose by 20+. Fisher is building something with the culture and mindset and recruiting at a level to play with and beat Bama, but season 1 game 4, I don't expect to.

You also didn't expect to compete with Clemson.

I don't expect to win. I don't even think we will win. However, if Sumlin can keep these games close, with the exception of the Kenny Hill hangover game, with less discipline , then Fisher can too.

Yes. I have watched them. They give up lot's big plays because of poor tackling, poor angles and not playing the ball well. It's not self hate. We've given up more big plays than just about any power five team. They gave a stat during the game where I think we were ranked 100+ among schools giving up plays over some yardage criterion. It's reality. We frequently are in position to make plays but we often don't. Also I find your continuing calling people out for self hate to be pretty tedious simply because their opinions don't line up with yours.

No, I thought we would compete with Clemson and they would pull away late for a 31-17 type win.

Clemson was at home, and Kelly Bryant and the Clemson WRs <<<<<< Tua and Bama. This is on the road.

But I believe Elko is better than Chavis, and I damned sure know that Dickey and Fisher 100000x better than Mazzone and Sumlin. We will keep it close and compete with how we play on offense, if the D can keep from giving up lots of big passing plays.

I am not a Bama homer, though I am a fan, just trying to be realistic. I am the only one here that watches every snap of both of these teams, and this Bama team is beyond anything Saban has fielded before. True they have not played an elite team yet, but you can tell what you are watching, it's on another level.

If we play smart, tough, limit the TOs and penalties, I think we can make a game of it.

Our TD drives against Clemson took 2:57, TOTAL. Our drives ending in punts took 3 times as long.

We need to score, long drives, short drives, any way possible. I don't care if it turns into tt vs cougar high from this past weekend, as long as we finish with more.

That’s a heck of a stat. I guess the difference between this team and a Sumlin team is that the latter’s empty drives would have been quick 3-and-outs consuming no clock. Think
