Simpson Drill Field (noon, April 21st, 2010), bop heard a high ranking A&M official address the Class of '60's - 50th Reunion Bar-BQ luncheon.

In a short welcoming speech the speaker referred to Simpson Drill Field as "this hallowed ground".

bop recently discovered a video of Governor Rick Perry '72, addressing Senior A&M Cadets, Class of '09, in Duncan Dining Hall (April 16, 2009).

http://vimeo.com/5594017

In opening remarks Governor Perry referred to..."this is hallowed ground".

QUESTION:
Now only being used as a Texas A&M lacrosse/soccer recreation area, is Simpson still to be regarded hallowed ground ?

mule...

bop sez honestly, a few years from now who's gonna consideded it hallowed ground...other than former A&M lacrosse and soccer players.

Old Corps guys in and around College Station could care less. If they were to raise the slightest little ruckus over Simpson Drill Field's obvious demise why, they (and their wives) would be outcasted as trouble-makers and...socially ostracized.

The C/S interactive social system is tightly hierarchical and hair-trigger sensitive.
(bop's seen it at work before.)

Sorry but academia, and it's administration, can fall into the political/social morays of a..."one factory town".

(Come onnnnn bop, don't ya reckon the Association of Former A&M Cadets has jest long-lost leverage it once held in C/S ?)

Bop - The Texas Historic Plaque along with the WWI
plaques at base of oak trees, should insure its' continued history. (It's in better shape than "Howdy").

Don't think there will EVER be another Final Review on Simpson (and you can forget about Fall and Spring Corps reviews too).
So, what left ?

(bop, don't ya think perhaps somehow, someday, they'll have a soccer or lacrosse review on Simpson ?)
